Using the sun’s solar energy is one of the best way to reduce your carbon footprint. More and more people finds that using home solar power systems is a clean and affordable way to power their households. Solar panel costs are dropping as the government is providing grants and tax incentives to home owners to convert to renewable energy. A solar kit that contains the materials to build your own solar panel can be a solution to your renewable energy needs.

A solar kit contains materials such as solar cells, bindings and flux pens that enable you to build a solar panel. The quality of solar cells varies largely between different manufacturers depending on its efficiency. Solar cells can convert as much as 24% of the sun’s light into electricity depending on its efficiency. The solar panels that you make can be used for a wide range of uses such as solar power for your RV or boat. The DIY solar panel is most often used to power a person’s house.

If you want to power your house with a solar kit, make sure that you can tie your solar power to your electricity grid or store the electricity in an efficient battery. Check with your electricity provider or an electrician specialized in solar in your area.

Solar kits are becoming less expensive as more foreign manufacturers are getting into the game. Starting with building a single panel, you can scale up and make an entire array that can power you whole household. You can also take advantage of many renewable energy grants and tax incentives if you live in a sunbelt state such as California or Arizona.

Renewable energy is going to be crucial as we move forward as a nation and a species. You can do your part by installing a solar panel onto your house and taking other energy efficiency measures such weatherizing your house. Even if you do not care about the environmental benefits, installing your own solar kit can cut down your electricity bill. If your household produces surplus electricity during peak hours, you may also be able to sell that electricity back to your utility for a profit.

Energy Provider: Where Does It Come From?

July 23rd, 2010    Subscribe To Our Feed

Our world economy depends on getting cheap resources from one country to another; the ipod your listening to will have been made hundreds of miles away, this is normally because of the cost of making the product is cheap in that country.. Oranges grown in South Africa are sent over several thousand miles to be eaten in the UK because it is the best way for businesses to get their supplies. The same applies to energy companies, Norway exports more gas than it uses because they use hydroelectricity and have a plentiful gas supply. Energy suppliers are reliant on sources that they usually cannot control because the demand is so high they need to get it from somewhere.

Want to lower your energy bills

In the United States forty nine percent of energy generated is produced by coal, a mineral which cannot be replaced when it is used. Because of the need to look at other energy suppliers have had to diversify and seek safer sources to take their energy from this has affected both their services and can potentially influence future energy supplies. The problem is that suppliers have few options when it comes to a reliable source of energy, something that is both continuous and stable. Wind Generators, for example is fantastic in principle but in reality if the whole of United Kingdom was covered in wind turbines from coast to coast it could only supply 1/3 of their energy needs and create a lot of noise in the process. Recently Nuclear power has been touted as a possible solution to the impending energy crisis; however the public do not like the idea of another nuclear incident such as Three Mile Island occurring on their doorstep. One issue with sustainable energy is that suppliers will have to keep up with the high demands put on to by the customer..

Want to lower your energy bills

Currently there are many companies such as Green Energy UK and Urban Green Energy in the USA who are trying to supply only green and sustainable energy to the suppliers. The suppliers have responded by offering their customers energy only from renewable sources both as a gesture towards environmentalists and an attempt to wean consumers off other sources of energy that have less long-term value.Unfortunately, that may not be enough in the end as providers based on coal and oil from foreign sources to supply most of their energy needs. In the search for an energy supplier it may be something that we all need to keep note of especially if our bills start to reflect that.
